The AI Model you choose to use also affects project time as well, Artemis HQ is my go to for animation right now, Proteus for everything else due to the control.Event Log from the earlier failure(s). ![]() My advice would be to stick to TOPAZ VIDEO ENHANCE AI 2.6.4 as 3.0 is still heavily in development. Then once that 4K Upscale is complete (also using Video2x separately to see what differences in detail I can find) I’m going to remux the audio via MKVToolnix and drop in the proper subtitling. I then cut the audio out entirely to remaster and normalize it a bit since the Original Audio sounded a bit too off for my tastes, I threw the strictly video portion into Topaz and with my settings the way they are to adjust for grain and detail loss via Proteus (Fine Tune) and it’ll give you your time to go once the programs started and the AI Model you chose loads with your settings. The Exorcist is a bit of a labour of love for me, took the directors cut 1080p Bluray as a source since it’s what I had physically available, I’m doing some fine tuning with some B&W options in Adobe Premiere, no cuts to the story or any shots rearranged. Would I recommend Video Enhance? For the right kind of super specific shot, it's a little better than the alternatives and it's cheap enough to give it a try. I don't think there's really anyone else in the video space with that kind of product. For 99.9% of shots, the scaler and denoise tools in Resolve are going to give you more control and a better result. The shots I used it on were wide scenic shots that had to be significantly cropped in. It's a really really specific use case where it's worth screwing with. I was impressed with their photo upscaler, so I bought Video Enhance just to play around with it, and since have maybe used it on a couple of shots. The further you get from that use case, the less impressive Topaz is, IMO. If you are trying to get that little extra resolution on a landscape photo so you can print it bigger than you probably should, the Topaz AI works remarkably well. I've used the Topaz suite quite a bit for stills, not so much for video. Looking for something more local?
